Kappa Alpha Theta

We at Kappa Alpha Theta are so excited to hear that you are interested in Fall Formal Recruitment and look forward to meeting you!

Kappa Alpha Theta was established in 1870 as the first sorority known among women. The Alpha Xi chapter at the University of Oregon was first chartered in 1909. After a short leave of absence, we are proud to say that as of January 2012, Alpha Xi is back at the University of Oregon and continues to grow at a rapid pace.

Kappa Alpha Theta’s vast membership continues to be comprised of dynamic, impactful women. Thetas share the values of personal excellence, scholarship, service, leadership, and best of all, friendship. Together, we support one another and the communities surrounding us. We partake in philanthropies on campus through Fraternity and Sorority Life, as well as those in the Eugene community.

Since 1989, Kappa Alpha Theta has supported the advocacy work of CASA, our international philanthropy. We share CASA’s belief that all children have the fundamental right to be safe, and to be treated with dignity and respect. This past Spring, we held our first philanthropy for CASA called Theta Picnic. At this event we raised a few thousand dollars for the local Springfield CASA.

With the opportunity to re-build the chapter from the ground up, the members had the experience of a lifetime. Learning with every step, the women of Alpha Xi quickly saw what it meant to be part of something larger then themselves. The progress we have made this year alone foreshadows what greatness Alpha Xi will bring to the University of Oregon this upcoming year, and for many years to come.
